Seedance 1.5 Pro is a video model from ByteDance's Seed team, and its focus is the film look. ByteDance credits it with a sense of cinematography of its own: long takes, dolly zooms, low tracking shots, slow-motion cuts, scene transitions and colour grading that reads like a finished film. It was also the first Seedance generation to make sound and picture as one unit, so footsteps, breathing and background ambience are timed to what happens on screen.

It suits short pieces that live on atmosphere: a quiet moment before a fight, a letter read by candlelight, an establishing shot drifting over a village at dawn. ByteDance says it reads emotion well enough to build a small arc without dialogue, and that it can string several shots together from one prompt with a story that follows. Scene transitions are one of the camera skills ByteDance lists for Seedance 1.5 Pro, and a match cut is the most satisfying kind to ask for. Limitations to know

  • ByteDance says motion stability still has room to improve, especially in complex movement. Fights, fast dance and anything with a lot of body contact can bend in ways real bodies do not, so check those takes closely before you use them.
  • Scenes where several characters talk, and scenes with singing, are weaker spots by ByteDance's own account. Lip movement and voice can slip out of step when more than one person speaks, so one speaker per shot is the safer setup.
  • Each clip tops out at 12 seconds, so a longer story has to be built from several takes. Costume patterns and props can change between takes, and lettering inside the frame is not reliable; add titles in an editor.

How to write prompts for Seedance 1.5 Pro

  1. Open with the shot size and angle, such as wide establishing shot, over-the-shoulder or close-up in profile, then give the subject and the action.
